A Bit About Me

Jacob is the hands and heart behind BlueByrd’s builds. With years of experience in restoration, construction, and creative problem-solving, he leads the design and build side of the business, The Nest. From restoring buses and RVs to crafting custom tiny homes, Jacob blends craftsmanship with innovation, always focused on creating spaces that are durable, functional, and beautiful.

As BlueByrd’s Chief Operating Officer, Jacob oversees day-to-day operations and ensures that every project—from guest experiences at the park to new builds in The Nest—is delivered with care and attention to detail. He’s known for his practical expertise, big-picture vision, and the ability to take an idea and make it real.

My Story

My story with BlueByrd began with a search for community. After my divorce, I felt the weight of starting over and the loneliness that came with it. I turned to the things that had always inspired me — architecture, design, and art — and began applying them to a new passion: creating spaces where people could come together.

It started with three bluebird buses on a quiet acre by the creek. That little cluster of homes became my first vision of what a community could look like. Then I found an Airstream on Craigslist, bought it, and poured myself into its restoration. When Augustine and I renovated that Airstream together, something clicked. We realized that the two of us, working side by side, could create something much bigger than either of us could alone.

What excites me about BlueByrd is that I get to do all of it — building, designing, planning, and hosting. I love the challenge on every level, and my goal is simple: when people stay here, I want them to feel like they belong, like they’re part of something real and lasting.

The journey has meant starting over in my 40s — new career, new partnerships, new home. It hasn’t been easy, but it has been worth it. The first time I got behind the wheel of a bus, I knew I was headed down the right path.

Looking forward, my dream for BlueByrd is that it continues to grow, evolve, and create space for more people to join the community. I hope that my story reminds others that it’s never too late to start again, and that home can be something we build — not just for ourselves, but for everyone who comes through our gates.
